Nice review. But in what way are these particular shambling, reanimated corpses not zombies? Reminds me of H.P. Lovecraft's description of a derelict church as 'almost eldritch'.

Nice review, mate. Although it's tempered somewhat because the guy likes "The Rising" (possibly one of the worst horror novels I've ever read).

Great review, Simon, looking forward to this. But why are they not zombies, or do I have to read it to find out?

They are zombies. That I can assure you of, having edited this particular book. Not read any of the works that the reviewer compares it to so can't comment on that. I can say, however, that Simon's novel was a pleasure to edit and it is a bloody good read. A superb writer.
Simon - you'll be getting your advances next week, haven't been in the office much but I shall sort them out for you ASAP.

Having read a snippet of Simon's novel, I can say that it's very good indeed - a zombie novel with a social conscience. :-)

Zombies with a social conscience only eat fairly traded organic brains.

And hummus.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. And to Weber and Jon for the jokes. (When I saw the 'double dose' line, I was praying Joel wouldn't see it... but Jon went and did it anyway. You can take the boy out of stand-up comedy, but...)

My copy arrived yesterday from Amazon and I'm itching to start it - it looks good and I prefer the size of this, against the smaller size of the earlier Abbadon books.

If I get the collection this week too, it'll be Bestwick overload in our house!

New size is indeed the business. Really pleased with the way the new books are looking and Simon's tome is very handsome. Just like the good man himself of course.
