New Ken Loach film... do yourself a favour, go and see it on the big screen. Not his greatest film but a real joy, a fable about the value of solidarity and friendship in dark times. Eric Cantona is in the film, playing himself – and a classic moment from his career provides a key metaphor. Loach's films are always social interventions rather than works of 'pure art', and this film is a more generous, more humanist, more positive call to arms than we probably deserve. Not to be missed. |

This is a film that interests me, Joel. Thanks for the recommendation. Just a thought - if Cantona had refused to do it, I doubt it would have worked as well as Looking For Rio... |
