As some of you know I'm currently channeling the spirits of Lovecraft, Leiber and many pulp fantasists onto the page.
The result is going to look something like this:

Yup, just hope the novel's as good as the cover. I find it utterly terrifying doing my first.

I feel the same way. It's very daunting - but the first one will be out of the way soon for both of us. Just think - then you repeat the whole process all over again. Mad or what?

Having to read the same old thing time and time again drives you crackers!

Jonathan, look on the positive side: at least you've not done what Eoin Clofer has done, and signed up to write a new chapter in Douglas Adams's Hitchhikers series...

And Adams himself did a pretty poor job on book 5. In the history of bad ideas... this one seems to be right up there with th e worst of them

Hang on peoples. I'm not saying that it's a bad book, just that writing it and the self-doubt that creeps in has been quite an experience.

I wasn't saying your book was bad. I was saying HHGTTG 6 was a bad idea. Whoops. I should have put that idea instead of This. I can see why you thought I was criticising. Sorry

Jonathan, out of interest, do you have anyone to edit the book? I know you're the main man, and so on, but is there someone to tell you if there's some wonkiness in your novel? Or do you have to do it all yourself?

It's being edited by Rebecca Levene, who used to be one of the chief editors on the Virgin range of Doctor Who New Adventures. She's also one of my authors. Think that editing it myself is probably a bad idea. Plus it deflects some of the accusations of nepotism.
