Fucking hell. I can't believe they managed to make this for £100,000 - that's some kind of minor cinematic miracle. The film is grubby, brutal, nasty and bleak, but well worth a viewing. It deconstructs the myth of the modern English family and comes across like a modern-day Pete walker film. I liked this a lot, but needed a shower afterwards. |

And it wasn't "entertaining". |

I admired it, and I've written it up for Video Watchdog. |

I'll have to unrap this asap... although from what Gary said I may have to wrap my self in plastic. |

So is this grisly surreal social realism about killing and raping foreigners, with a polish girl as the central figure, done on shoestring budget? Or am I reading the trailer all wrong? |

So this was a grisly piece of film indeed. I thought the actor who played the father was really great- if not amazing at times- he certainly carries the film in all its nastiness- and despite of that, I thought he was also very funny-if it is permissable to think that. The Christmas scene was outragious. Creativly done with the budget I must say. Always fresh to see artists push things creativly when they clearly have limited means, and this was done to its full potential I think. |

So sometimes I'm miles behind everyone else but I just saw this this afternoon and thought it was excellent - some truly brutal horror, some laugh out loud horrible moments and some terrific satire. By the hour mark I was onthe edge of my seat and then the Xmas scene kicked in- oh brilliant, just brilliant, and to have the climax accompanied by the most awful version of 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' - wonderful. I can see what people mean about the Pete Walker influence but there's nothing retro about this. |

I've been looking forward to seeing this for quite some time and hearing it compared to the films of Pete Walker is praise indeed! One of the most underrated world horror directors (nevermind British) in my book. 'House Of Mortal Sin' is one of the most important and least appreciated horror movies of the 70s for me... |
