I loved TRON as a kid... but... sorry, Tony, this trailer does not bode well....

The sfx are fantastic, etc. - given. But in the original, two basic elements of the bikes that MADE THEM the cool thing they were:

1) They travelled and turned at 90º angles ONLY
2) When they crashed into each other's walls, it was LETHAL - you were IMMEDIATELY TOAST

... And they get these basics wrong?!? Now it just looks like one more fucking sci-fi MATRIX-esque action sequence....

The magic seems gone. The plot wisps emerging from this bit - tired, familiar, empty. I'm no longer looking forward to this.

Surely the "basics" are plot and character. I'm looking forward to it and I haven't even seen the first one.

The things Craig mentioned were pretty ace; simplicity being pure and effective.
I thought this clip was pretty atmospheric and dreamlike myself.
