Well, I'm sorry to say that we've been unable to keep Pantechnicon ezine going - or, rather, get it going again following the technical problems with the website. So, we've decided to pull the plug after several very enjoyable years.

BUT we're going out in style! Thanks to our knight in shining armour - Stephen Theaker of the BFS - our tenth (and final) issue will be going out "back-to-back" with Theaker's Quarterly Fiction (http://www.silveragebooks.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/mag/tqf/tqf.htm) in December.

This means that, for the first time, Pantechnicon will be available not only as a free PDF download, but also in ebook format, AND in printed format to purchase from Lulu. Thanks, Stephen, you're a star!

I'll keep everyone informed of contents, etc, later ...

Blimey, it seems a curious time to 'close' Pantechnicon, Caroline, what with it now being available in print.
How come it's ceasing production?*

*Forgive me if you've told me the reason before - my memory is terrifyingly rubbish.

There's no-one left to run it, Steve. Trudi Topham, the main editor who did all the technical computer stuff too, has had to pull out. None of us left have the technical skills, nor the time, to carry it on.

It's ironic really that we've managed to do what Troo was originally aiming for - ie. print and ebook formats - with this last issue. But that's only because of this temporary link up with Theaker's Quarterly Fiction. Stephen does all that with TQF anyway, so he's simply "piggybacking" Pantechnicon onto the December TQF for us.

The current website is completely knackered so anyone who was continuing with it would have to start again, effectively. Troo is going to find some way of hosting all the previous issues, so there will be a platform upon which to build if anyone does get the chance to start it up again in the future.

It's very sad to see it go, but we've no option at the moment I'm afraid.

An update from me on the Pantechnicon thingy - and also a little plea for help.

First, there will now be TWO issues of Pantechnicon before we finally lay it to rest - one on Christmas Day and one in April 2010. The thing is, we had more content than we could fit into one issue, so we're doing two - both back-to-back with Theaker's Quarterly Fiction as mentioned above.

Now, why I could do with a little assistance from someone here is because I'm short of one article - preferably horror-related. There are already two RCMBers involved in producing something for us (thanks guys - you know who you are! ) but if anyone here fancies doing me a nice article of some kind, I'd be really grateful. Problem is, we can't pay you anything for it - sorry!

But, if you fancy producing a little something for your writer's CV - even unpaid - drop me an email with your suggestion at cacallag at yahoo dot com (obviously, put that into proper email format).

Cheers, folks! I guess I could do a little article on something myself really, but it doesn't seem right publishing my own work so I'd rather get something from someone else if I can.
