I watched this for the first time in years on the pristine NoShame DVD that popped (or rather squeezed) through my letterbox on Saturday.

Some stunning visuals, particularly at the start, and a music score that veers between unsettling and repetitive don't really compensate for a very slight plot, some unintelligible acting, and a crappy ending, but Euro-prospectors will certainly find enough to keep them watching. In fact I could probably watch the first half an hour again just to enjoy the imagery. Zed will hopefully echo my comments.

Huw - have you seen it?

I have, and I agree with everything you said above. Some of the visual touches were striking, and even though it ultimately it failed to live up to my expectations, I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys this type of thing. Did you get the special demon head tile-thingy with yours, John?

Yes I did! The one that has 'This is not a toy' stamped on the back. Quite how it could be engaged in play is beyond me but there we are. It's actually quite a nice model and must have cost NoShame a pretty penny. I don't think the DVD sold well though as I picked up my copy fairly cheaply so I hope they haven't suffered too much.

And Huw - there are more Naschy titles due for release!

It's a movie that was on my want-to-see list since years, and I now succumbed to the temptation and ordered it. The version with the amulet! And I also ordered the director's cut of Dust Devil, another movie I want to see since a long time. Let's just hope that these envelopes bypass the greedy Belgian customs...

Hope you like them, Tom. The Dust Devil 5-disc set is quite a treasure trove. The documentaries are fascinating.

Watch out for that amulet though - it bites! ;-)

Huw - have you watched any of the short films on the second Baino disk? 'Dream Car' I thought wasn't very good, 'Caruncula' was OK, but 'Never Ever Again', his most recent project, was very disappointing -the kind of story a 6 year could see the ending of coming. I thought the 'making of' doc on this was a bit over the top as well

I haven't yet, Lord P, but I'm hoping to soon. I've got a huge pile of DVDs waiting to be watched (or finished), including various dodgy-looking Euro, Asian and central/south American horror entries. I still haven't tackled Coffin Joe yet, or the last two Aztec Mummies...

My, my

Report back what you get to see, Huw. I've got Naschy's Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll close to the top of the viewing pile, so help me
