Frank Duffy has written a guest post at Paul D. Brazill's blog, and very entertaining it is too, I think.

'...And this is where I have inadvertently shot myself in the proverbial foot so many times in the past. Especially here in Poland. Mention to anyone that I come from near Liverpool, and you can practically guarantee that their response will consist of two words: Jerzy Dudek. They will say these two words with such hushed reverence that I’ve often wondered whether these sanctified words are endowed with possible magical properties...such as 'Open Sesame', or ‘make mine a double scotch on the rocks’.'

Nice one!

It seems you're doing a guest blog there too, Steve ...?

I think my guest spot is due to be posted on Paul's site today, Caroline. :-)

I really enjoyed Frank's post. Even if one isn't a football fan, it's still an enjoyable read, I think. :-)

Absolutely! Interesting observations there from Frank about the search for "the connection" when you're in a strange country like that (not that there's anything strange about Poland - that's not what I mean at all!).

Anyway, where is my friend Frank? I haven't seen him around here for a while again. You haven't gone off me, have you Frank?

Last I heard he was teaching giraffes in Basingstoke to play football through the medium of interperative dance, so he could be some time.

These days, Frank is very busy writing. I wish I was as professional... *lights-up another fag*

By the way, my brief essay on Orson Welles is now online at Paul Brazill's website, folks:

Steve - you're WAY too modest about your writing, you know. That's a superb essay - well done!

Steve, that reminds me; BBC4 is running an Orson Welles season over Christmas. I bet that will be worth a look.

I feel I have to catch-up with Frank, ability and experience-wise, before we work together properly. My stuff is rather fey, amateurish, odd and old-fashioned, whereas Frank's writing is, I feel, far more contemporary in nature and fully-formed. No doubt Frank will give me a smack for writing all that but I believe it to be true at this point in time.

We plan to work on a novel, eventually, but right now we're busy with endless submitting, writing and rewriting, reviewing other people's books etc etc; they're aren't enough hours in the day!
