Could be like Neil Young's Harvest Moon: a revisit to old ground that forms a definitive new statement. Bring it on!

King must not be allowed to go out until we have the completed MS of this book. No need for shackles: the Shining Militia will simply kidnap his Ramones albums until the ransom MS is delivered. If he keeps us waiting too long, we'll post him torn scraps of lyric sheet.

Well spotted,Ally. Good news.

Bad news? You can almost hear the distant drumming of the vultures' claws in their misshapen money trees: "The film, dummy, the film! Get onto to Stephen's office,NOW!"

The Shining 2. Now that's depressing.

Stephen King mentioned this project during his speaking event in Toronto last week (which was hosted by David Cronenberg).

I confess I felt a thrill when he began describing the book. Doctor Sleep sounds like a proper sequel; one born out of the noble intentions of a writer who wants to show how his character(s) went on to cope with the traumas and miracles from the first book.

I'm pretty stoked.

Richard G: very tenuously linking Cronenberg with King's sequel...

Suddenly the prospect of 'The Shining 2' is not depressing.

If only.

Apologies to you Ally - and also on behalf of the impish Weber: it seems we schoolboys sometimes lose control. And watch what happens now. Craig picks up on "schoolboys" and comes roaring in with a diatribe against RC priests.

King has commented on this to Entertainment Weekly. He says, essentially "whoa, hang on! I'm not saying I'm doing it, just that I've had an idea for it. It may never happen. Everybody, take a step back and calm down."
