If anyone's interested, there's a reprint of my story JUST UP AHEAD AND OFF THE ROAD here: http://deadlineszine.com/CurrentIssue.aspx I think I wrote this one when I was about twenty-one. It wasn't published until well into my thirties, but I've always rather liked it. Cheers. |

This is a good tale. Creepy. I remember it well. In Lighthouse 6, wasn't it? Back when we was nippers. |

Nice tale, Gary. As ever. Sorry to piggyback your link, but my story 'The Strangled Garden' was in the previous issue. http://deadlineszine.com/Issue1.aspx |

Gary, a great little existential chiller. The characterisation and accumulation of little incidental details reminded me very much of Stephen King. Short, sharp, sweet and once started you're dragged through to the finish without pause - the gift of a natural storyteller. The first of your's I've read and won't be the last. |

Many thanks, Stephen. Yes, I do see that tale as a sort of homage to King (among others). He was a big influence on me in my twenties. |

Great story, Steve. Highly entertaining and loved all the old-fashioned atmospherics. Could see this easily slotting into one of the old 'Not At Night' books. |

Both excellent stories, a contemporary and classic slice of atmospheric nightmare respectively. Deadlines is always worth a visit. |
