Am I going mad then? It's one of the most creepy, exploitative things I've seen on mainstream telly. Remove the music and sound effects of audience whooping and it's just vulnerable people being assaulted for entertainment. |

Okay, to be clear, the real creepiness begins 2:00 into the clip. |

Proto - you really don't like John Barrowman much, do you? Hey, I'm thinking here - I wonder if I could enrol myself into the John Barrowman School of Acting ... |

Ant And Dec's Push The Button. Presumably the button's the off/on one on the telly.... |

Watched the link and I feel physically sick... I never watch any of that reality TV bollocks and now I've had a glimpse into one version of Hell. Why was that ejit ALW sitting on a throne??? Also I'd like to apologise on behalf of all Ireland for inflicting GN on the world. No wonder I've stopped watching contemporary TV!! |

To their credit, GN and ALW both looked horrified by the clip. |

The most disturbing moment was when one of the girls (why only one!?) acted like she was being physically attacked which was surely the most natural reaction to some bloke grabbing you and trying to force a snog. I actually liked John Barrowman in 'Doctor Who' and found his character engaging but that clip has me just a bit creeped out! A bad idea!! Or am I taking it all a bit too seriously... |

Only John Barrowman knows that. |

Oh, they were actresses! They would have had to have snogged a stranger in front of people at some point or other. And the girl who got grabbed seemed to be laughing more than anything. |

Gosh, I had to watch it based on the comments here and couldn't for the life of me understand what all the fuss was about. It's not like having some sweaty stranger go up to girls completely unexpectedly on the street to kiss them - they're in bloody drama class! AND they're on TV so it's not like they have no idea there will be surprises in store. |

As a one-time actor, I have to agree. Barrowman said to them before the snog- whatever happens, just go with the flow'. That's what you do if you're a god ator- you pick up whatever ball's thrown to you and then you run with it. Cheap? Silly? Pointless? Maybe. But, sorry, not exploitation of the vulnerable. |

Maybe it would have seemed more professional had he not licked his lips and grinned at the camera before they came in. |

I can't view you tube at work but I'm guessing that this is a clip from the search for a nancy show the beeb did last year (did they call the show I'd do anything?). They certainly weren't exploiting the vulnerable by they got to the live shows. I first-aided one of the Manchester auditions (tres boring) and the selection process seemed a lot more rigourous than other talent shows for not being exploitative. |

'Maybe it would have seemed more professional had he not licked his lips and grinned at the camera before they came in.' He's known for liking to shock. I think deep down he's actually, as you once suggested Proto, quite vulnerable guy. |

Aren't "reality TV" and "professional" mutually exclusive? |

All I know is I'm bloody glad I don't watch any of the stuff... rare glimpses I've had and what I absorb by osmosis from those around me all points to lowest common denominator cheap TV bollocks full of inanely grinning halfwits prancing about like trained monkeys! Rant over. |

And yet ... sometimes it is the truest stuff you will ever see. I really liked that Barrowman clip. It felt like to be kissed by him was to go through what these horror critics I once read describing a near miss from a killer as being an 'awakening'. Look in their eyes as they are kissed. It's almost spiritual. The girls look like they're kissing God, their faces lit like Moses'. |

Ha! It's not about Barrowman per se, but celebrity, I think. Fill in that scene with you and someone you admire, their wanting to kiss you, make you go through that stuff. |
