Trebor Softmints are preferable to Murray Mints. The Trebors are Mentos knockoffs, but they are soft and tasty, whereas the Murray's, though they have a butterscotch flavor I prefer, don't have enough of that, to my liking - and then I tend towards the soft mints over the hard as it is. Thanks to Weber for sending me these and so allowing me to come to this momentous decision. And thanks oh so much for putting I prefer "12 inches" on the outside of the strangely-shaped package the postman had to put in my box (*ahem*!), a nice touch... I will be sure to return the favor when I mail you something back.... |

It didn't say you prefer 12 inches on the packet. It said Craig "twelve inches! my favourite" Schwartz. Anyway. Murray mints are better than the trebor. The butterscotchy taste you mentioned wins them over for me. They also have a nicer, smoother texture than any of the range of trebor mints. You never mentioned the extra strong mints... |

I have to agree with Weber - Murray Mints every time - it's the flavour, the texture as they melt in your mouth and the length of time they last. In fact I have a packet in my pocket now. Trebor Extra Strong mints or the black Lockets or Halls are great for emergency breath freshening though. What about Fox's glacier mints or fruits or the liquorice ones? Now there's sweets! |

Creamy is the word I couldn't think of when I was trying to descibe the texture of Murray Mints. None of the trebor mints can hold a candle to them. Admittedly, for breath freshening purposes I will go for trebor over murray, but from a pure pleasure perspective, it has to go to Murray for that creamy sweet butterscotchy coolness in the mouth. You know this thread is your fault Joel... |

I once crunched a whole bag of Fox's Dark into me in work (I do love liquorice) and people from three floors away were asking who'd been eating liquorice for hours afterward - I couldn't answer, my tongue was too black. |

But see, I prefer a VERY butterscotch flavor, and the Murray's may be "creamy," but they're not butterscothery enough. For that kind of thing you want Werther's. Or even Brachs. And as it is, I prefer soft-chew-anythings to the hard candies. I've not tried the extra strong mints yet, but I will soon - I'm a bit concerned, becaues I also don't like my mints too too strong. I'm a bit finicky. And I must be an old biddy, because I prefer buttermints to any other kind of mint (I always associate buttermints with decrepit old people, those and those candies that fuse together into solid colorful rocks and taste pretty damn awful - can't remember the name of those...). |

If it's buttery sweets you're after you can't beat a genuine butterball - the kind that come in a jar. I'm more of a fan of hard boiled sweets that can stay in your mouth for ages slowly dissolving... yum. Do you have sweet peanuts over there? |

No, not that I've heard.... And the yawning gap between our cultures is evident even in your last post: "butterball" is a term I never hear in relation to candy, only turkeys; "hard boiled sweets" is another I've never heard before, let alone "sweet peanuts." Exactly how boring on the Boring Barometer is discussing the difference in terms between the U.S./U.K.?... I always suspect it spikes dramatically when it's brought up.... |

Proto, thanks for that. Nearly ruptured myself laughing. (Obviously, Murray Mints are better. And in other news, Pepsi beats Coke, which tastes like donkey piss, every time.) >>>runs away quickly<<< |

I've actually ordered SHARK ATTACK 3: MEGADOLON. It's only 4 Euro, but I still hope JB doesn't get a piece of that action. |

It looks so fantastic I'm seriously considering ordering it myself. Is that giant shark inflatable? So much better than anything fucking CGI could have come up with! I'm not even joking... one to show the mates over a carry-out. |

I agree, Stevie! CGI is so slick now, we - consciously - don't even realize we're not buying any of it. CGI is anti-story: it's a Gobstopper (there's a candy - you have any of those?) we're meant to suck upon and sedate ourselves with, while a shitty-mf'n-story cascades by us. But it's all wearing so very thin: our minds are rejecting it (note our new trendy candy, "3D," which only goes to show how the old one's losing it's flavor). So few are the CGI films with any real quality. Some of those, the CGI is purely background, purely meant not really TO be seen.... |

It's not a CGI shark. It's nature documentary footage with people photoshopped into it. |

I do think it works, the shark. Because it's not what we expect - it doesn't feel like we've come to expect special effects to feel. |
