I feel uneasy about this. I'm not sure why, but you get the impression politicians are panicing and casting about for solutions.

Will anyone celebrate this day if it does arrive?

The August bank holiday could be turned into a "Great British weekend" that would allow people permission to celebrate everything they like about the country...

In the absence of anything likeable about this country, we'll celebrate binge drinking, casual violence, the benefits culture, disrespect, vandalism, moral and cultural poverty, lack of honour and nobility, idiocy, xenephobia, stabbings, selfishness and illiteracy. All the things that make Britain great.

We could celebrate finding good old books in charity shops, Woolworths, some people I know and our gerbils and other pets. And old ladies.

"Thomas Ligotti's forum is CRAP!"

But your not, mush (and I think most people on the site will agree).

That's the important thing to remember here, Wob.

Who are you Wayne Roonie or Richard Gere?

Hmm I remember a Marvel comic that featured Steven Strange and The Hulk invading a fortified mansion where a dieing man planned to destroy the world. He gave the same explanation as you.

Interesting.

Do you own a large fortified mansion with the a WMD, Albs?

I'm intrigued.

Think he was referring to Ligotti's forum again.

Steve Strange the electropop person? What an odd team-up that must have been. And looked.

Dr Steven Strange.

The Warlock!

Tsk.

What did you do with your youth, Tony?
Spend it all happy and jolly playing football or something?

Sorry - I always thought of him as Doctor Strange.

And was trying to crack a cheap joke.

How would anyone like their kids saluting The Flag in the morning and singing God Save the Queen?

Funny isn't it, how much we loathe ourselves? I wouldn't mind any other countries doing it. Sad, really.
Or is it good?

Am I detecting a certain latent hostility toward the Ligotti site Albie?

I mean my life Tony. I don't sport WMD but I have been wearing the same undies for days and Hans Blix has demanded access to inspect the cultures growing there.

Now that I've put you off Blue Stilton forever..

Hostility? Life is just a sliding scale of hostility.

Unconditional love is the lowest setting.
