Just a quickie as I'm busy dashing around as usual, but I had to tell someone about this - I'm so excited! You may recall I mentioned here a while back that I might be editing a Doctor Who book - my first professional publication? Well, after a little to-ing and fro-ing with the publisher (Hirst Books - who've published autobiographies of Anneka Wills, Colin Baker and Matthew Waterhouse, amongst other things), we've figured out how best to go ahead with this. So, assuming I can get enough people interested as contributors, it's actually going to happen!  However, I'm not sure it'll count as my first professional publication as we've decided the best way to get people on board as contributors is to make it a charity book. So I won't get a penny for it, but all proceeds are going to two charities close to my heart - the Fibromyalgia Association and Action for ME. I'm chuffed to bits! Can't tell you anything about it yet, but basically it will involve me interviewing said contributors on a certain Doctor Who-related theme and putting together/editing the contributions into a meaningful (hopefully!) whole. First step, I've got to start contacting people trying to persuade them to contribute ...  | ||

Thanks everyone. I'm still grinning from ear to ear. It's been a funny old evening - trying to do my "normal" job, teaching students, without them wondering why I'm grinning like a Cheshire cat! Yes, I forgot to say earlier as I was in a rush, even though I won't get any money from it, it'll still be a nice addition to my writer's CV (which is pretty sparse at the moment) and might lead on to bigger and better things (which someone actually pays me for!). Not only that, but it'll be damn good fun to do! | ||
