For anyone who's interested, here I am in my sartorial spendour, telling a story in the very room that could be used as the location for the link sequence in 'Faculty of Terror' if it ever gets filmed

John, you're supposed to drape your napkin across the lap, not stick it in your shirt collar. Still, nice of them to provide matching ones.

Yes, it does.

It looks like he's at a Bavarian castle circa the late 1890s, miles from anywhere and surrounded my forested mountains.

I think the chap on the left of the photo must be The Count.

Excellent, Lord P. Nice to see the Young Conservatives getting with it in the 21st Century.

Mark, that made me laugh out loud... :-)

John - you look positively regal in that photo, my good sir.

I'm guessing this photo was taken some time in the waning days of their gathering, as John regales the assembled libertines with jolly tale #38, wherein he snatches a maiden from the guillotine's blade at the last second, only to decapitate her in good faith, discharging himself as the blow falls. Here, you can see the libertines chuckle pleasantly at John's wit, and joie de vivre. Note John's studious avoiding of any Oxford commas....

It's Steed!

That's brilliant, Lord P. You look positively resplendent, and the room oozes atmosphere. In fact, the more I look at it the more I can imagine it suddenly coming under attack from demons and hobgoblins from a Bava or Soavi film.

Thanks everyone!

A bit of background - it's in Lincoln's Inn & I'm giving a best man's speech. The reason I am so attired is that the bride's father is a fashion designer in Singapore and I was made to wear it.

Griff - as you so astutely noticed the outfit doesn't actually...fit that well and it was a relief to change into the velvet three piece I'd brought along for the dancing.

Huw - you're right! The place was very Baron Blood and the camera doesn't capture the way the dying sunlight came through the stained glass windows. Immediately below that room is a crypt where we had the drinks reception.

John - whenever I look at the picture I keep expecting to see Baron Blood appear over your shoulder. :-)
