With the new anthology horror series, Fear Itself just starting, I keep thinking one of these directors will convert one of Ramsey's stories into a show. Which do you think would be the best? I can think of several butthe first ones that come to mind for me are: Mackintosh Willie Just Waiting Down There Worse Than Bones The Scar The Other Side I'd also love to see a feature length one for Incarnate. | ||

I always struggle with this one. Ramsey has written a lot of short tales that might be suitable for film adaptation. Your list is certainly a good starting point, Matt. I'd probably add JUST BEHIND YOU. | ||

I'd also like to see INCARNATE, but I think it would be difficult to do. NEEDING GHOSTS (idem). I'd like to see filmmakers tackle the monster in THE HUNGRY MOON. As for short stories - "Again", "The Telephones", "Reply Guaranteed", "Drawing In", "The Pattern"(imagine!), "The Invocation", "The Cellars", "The man in the Underpass (obviously) -to name only a few. | ||

Ramsey Campbell on TV: To start with I'd do The Moon Lens & I know exactly where in the Forest of Dean to shoot it. 'Just Behind You' should be on at 4-45pm on a Wednesday on the 'Scare the Shit Out of the Kids & make them into Decent Horror-Loving Adults' slot. 'The Guide' would work as a Christmas special. Just so long as the League of Gentlemen aren't in it. But I think to truly make one of his stories live would be to present a phantasmagoric surrealist multi-layered examination of perceptions. I fear the watcher would be under the assumption they were watching a public information film warning against the use of LSD. That would be a laugh! 70's public information film warning against the use of LSD. With kids in flares and tanks tops but acting like they are hallucinations...with big heads and massive shoes...luring the drugged child to a cliff edge or an unattended mauling machine. | ||

Give it to Lars Von Trier! No, but actually he both has a love for the genre and he is a pretty powerful director when it comes to his female leads...The guy who did the US version of The Others maybe, but not the ideal kind of filmmaker. We need to breed someone like Mike Leigh and cross polinate him with someone like Adrian Lyne-hej give it to Adrian Lyne- I would definatly see that. | ||
