Has anyone else seen this South Korean film - Huw, maybe? I watched it on DVD this evening, and thought it was remarkable. Highly recommended if, like me, you enjoy your crime films dark, brutal, brooding and bleak as hell. And it's currently cheap on Play.com. It comes as no great suprise that Hollywood have plans to remake this. Sigh. |

I liked it. I honestly can't imagine Hollywood remaking it. |

Unfortunately I can imagine it all too well - and I can see exactly how they'll do it: strip down the story to the chase at its core, sentimentalise the ending, and rub their hands with idiot glee. |

I was wondering if you had seen this one, Zed! I just read something the other day about a US remake involving Scorcese - don't know how accurate that was, though. Have you seen Mother yet? I'm hoping my copy will arrive today. |

Yes, the remake apparently involves "the team behind The Departed". Why does that make me shudder? I have Mother on pre-order. I think it's out in the UK next week, so I should have it then. Can't wait. |

Mother is absolutely fantastic, a real masterpiece. You'll all love it. Like Chaser, it's the kind of movie you won't ever see from Hollywood. It's also better than Chaser because more subtle, more layered. I did like Chaser (except there being a bit much running around on foot, which could have used some variety), but Mother plays in a higher league. This evening I may watch The Housemaid, an interesting Korean thriller with erotic elements ps an intense Korean thriller to look forward to is "I have seen the devil" (I think that's the title, it's the new one from the director of "A Bittersweet Life" and "The Good, the bad and the weird"). |
