Stan Winston has passed away at the age of 62. He created some of the most memorable creatures for the big screen.
Credits include: The Alien Queen in Aliens (and the facehuggers and aliens), The Predator, the T-Rex and raptors, the Terminator and T1000, The Thing with Bottin, he also worked on Iron Man and on the forthcoming Cameron pic Avatar. He was a legend in creature effects and design. See when people let their imaginations run wild in screenplays, he had to deal with making the bastards work on the big screen. He was a real wizard, and loved his monsters.

I believe Stan Winston was ill with leukemia. His contributions to fantastic cinema will be missed, as will be his enthusiasm. He died too young. |
