Only because I know that you're familiar with these chaps, so you'd want to know:

I have just commissioned a novel from Steve Rasnic Tem called Deadfall Hotel which is going to blow you away. Achingly beautiful, deliciously weird. This one is going to be a real treat. Coming your way Spring 2012.

Also, our very own Mr Simon Bestwick is writing me a novel. At the moment we're searching for a title, but I've read the pitch and you're going to love it. A brutal, supernatural piece written with Simon's usual panache and poetic sensibilities. Again, a Spring 2012 novel.

It's a real delight to be working with Steve for the first time and an honour to be calling back Bestwick into the stable of Jon.

Nice one, Simone! Remember to wear your best frock at the launch.

Both sound interesting.

FYI, the recent Solaris anthology "Engineering Infinity" is a treat. I've read roughly half of the stories thus far and several are very good indeed.
Peter Watts is brillant once again with his AI-awakening story. He's so consistently good that I'm even curious about his Crysis videogame tie-in novel (a genre I would normally not touch).
Stross' story is fun as well. I won't spoil here how a high tech robot story becomes a completely different genre. It was also good to see a descendant of Freya Nakamichi 47 as the protagonist. I hope that Stross will further explore this robot universe.

Oh, yes. Brilliant news. Tem is a long-time favourite of mine.

Interestingly enough, I just finished writing the first draft of The Concrete Grove, my first novel for Solaris. I'm on a massive high right now, because this one kicked and screamed on its way out of my head.

Excellent news, Jon - Steve is great and Simon has never disappointed me with his fiction, looking forward to both of these (and, of course, Mr McMahon's Concrete Grove).
