Apparently after over 50 years this book has finally been made into a trilogy. The first of which is going to be released in America on April 15th, tax day. Anyone have any thoughts? |

I assume you mean three films, not a trilogy of books. As such it shows how desperate the neo-cons are getting to flood the media with pro-free market propaganda. It would be interesting to know who has funded the film. |

I tried reading this novel and The Fountainhead a long time ago, but found them extremely dull and lifeless. I doubt I'll see the film. |

The Fountainhead was pretty good. Howard Roarke's character is the kind of guy John Wayne would aspire to be. |

The Fountainhead is one of my guilty pleasures. The greater implication of the inherent political message is dreadful, but the unquenchable spirit of freedom that moves through it alleviates its defects. That's just my view, though, and I don't recommend Ayn Rand objectively, which is mildly ironic bearing in mind her promotion of "Objectivism". It was the 70s prog band Rush who introduced me to Rand. I might as well be honest and confess that... |

I haven't read the novel, but King Vidor's film is powerful. |

I liked the film, too. I have it lumped in my mind with that other film based on a Somerset Maugham story, the one where the guy gives up a cushy life for one of hardship, a sort of forerunner to 12 Easy Pieces. Oh, it'll come to me - and probably after anyone here has guessed it. |

I'm guessing The Razor's Edge, Tony - the Edmund Goulding version with Tyrone Power? |

I have to say I am not a fan of the heavy political slants used by Rand, however; I do believe that what a person earns and what said person does with those earnings is their business. As long as what they are doing is legal and brings no harm to others. |
