Now on BBC 1. I'll probably regret watching it as it will be an emotional roller coaster ride but... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117913/ |

Good film, that. Not as good as Mississippi Burning, though. |

It was good. I was in tears by the end. I haven't seen Mississippi Burning and will get on to it. |

Have you seen 25th Hour? Another good film. |

The best film I've seen on this subject is 'Betrayed' (1988) by Costa-Gavras, with Debra Winger & Tom Berenger. Fabulous movie, intensely disturbing and moving, with a mounting suspense that is almost unendurable imho. |

Stevie - I liked Betrayed, but think Mississippi Burning is a better film because it doesn't fall into the trap of becoming a generic thriller. |

There's very little to choose between them, for me, but 'Betrayed' has an even more gripping narrative and that final scene never fails to send shivers down my spine - as effective as any horror coda imo. |

I wouldn't call it a generic thriller, Zed, I'd call it a perfect thriller. |

Surely, no film is perfect? |

The concept of a thriller working perfectly within its own limitations (such as last year's 'The Ghost', say) is something I am quite comfortable with and actively crave from cinema. Blame Hitchcock if you like lol. |
