So in Probertland we’ve just been watching Robert Hartford-Davis’s final exercise in sleazy slasherdom, The Fiend (1971), which on the print we have goes by its original title of Beware My Brethren. It’s just been released uncut on DVD which means that for the first time you can now see a naked girl falling out of a concrete lorry, a naked girl being strangled and dunked in a river, a topless girl being drowned in a swimming pool, and a room full of bras. Anyone who won’t find any appeal in those scenes (I know the bra scene will have already sold Zed on this) probably won’t want to watch the rest of the film anyway, especially when I also tell you that most of the cast (including Patrick Magee, Ann Todd and Suzanna Leigh) removed it from their CVs and refused to ever talk about the movie and the fact they had to beg their director to do more than one take of any scene, but at least now you all know it’s out there if you want to see it. | ||

Sorry to hitchhike this thread, but I tried to start a new one and it didn't work. Just got this e-mail message and it kind of feels fake to me: "Apologies for having to reach out to you like this, I made a quick trip to London, UK and my bag got stolen from me with my credit cards in it, I just have to pay for a ticket and settle Hotel bill. Unfortunately for me, I can't have access to funds without my credit card, I've made contact with my bank but they need more time to come up with a new one. I was thinking of asking you to lend me some quick funds that I can give back as soon as I get in. I really need to pay my hotel bill and get on the next available flight. Sent from 'S.T. Joshi' who's apparently stranded in a London Hotel and now would like me to send him 1,500 Pounds. His mobile was stolen, so he can't phone me. I would recognize his voice immediately. What to do? | ||

Thanks, Ally. I suspected as much. The odd thing is, the other party knew about my work for S.T. and even attached two files containing stories I translated and sent in last year. How they got them is beyond my imagination. A 'phishy' business, to be sure. | ||
