I stupidly thought this would get easier with each passing mass market book, but I'm just as nervous/excited/twitchy as I was with my first one. Wish me luck. |

Thanks, Paul. It isn't out until early July, but there'll be a box of advance copies for sale in the Deansgate Waterstones, Manchester this Saturday...you'll know them by the stench of my fear. |

Thanks, chaps. This story's been in my head since I was about fifteen, and only now did I feel capable of writing it. Also, it's the first of a three-book series, so I'm anxious as fuck that it's well received. |

Tony - the novel's set in Northumberland. Hadrian's Wall even appears in it...and the Lambton Worm gets a mention. |

It was a creepy block. Last time I saw the self same building it was in Wire in the Blood, a bloke shooting people from the window that was exactly like our old front room. Well weird seeing that. |

I will be buying my copy as soon as it is available, and it looks great. Enjoy your nerves and fear, it's the adrenalin moments that make our achievements special to us. I kowo it's a little different but when I perform on those old blues rock jam nites I'm always in a loose-bladder, can't-keep-still state of terror, until they call my name and then it suddenly disapears and away I go (and so do the audience, usually to the bar or another pub), it as the same when I used to tread the amatuer boards, but I've come to love the nerves, without them the whole thing feels flat and anti-climactic. It also shows an absence of arrogance. I am confident, having read so much of your work, that this will be another great book. Good luck with it. Cheers Terry |

Finished this today and have to say it's a cracking read. Probably the best thing Gary has written to date, yep even better than PLDT. The Grove itself could almost be said to be the main character of the novel and is inhabited by all manner of ghastly and ghoulish people. You will be left relieved that you don't live there! |
