I read this at the weekend (by James Morrow in case you've missed the haze of publicity it never received) and I think it's the sort of thing several of the peeps hear would really like.

Despite my copy having the worst blurb I've ever read on the dust jacket (it really doesn't do the book any justice) this is a fascinating book, filled with too many ideas to list. I don't know how much to say about it because I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but the middle section contained one of the most disturbing uses of a cloning machine you could possibly think of.

Anyone who likes to argue philosophy will love this book. The central premise concerns a girl who is taught to live according to the different philosphical ideals of most of the major moral philosophers from Kant to Aristotle to Jesus Christ himself.

It's described as a modern pygmalion but it's more a cross between that and a new Prometheus. I'm not doing it any justice at all here. Please, take a chance on this book, I reckon you'll all love it.
