I thought I'd already done a thread on this but apparently not. Gene Colan, artist on Tomb of Dracula and Daredevil and co-creator of Blade passed away on June 23 2011.

“For the first couple of years of its existence, the Daredevil book didn’t have much of an identity. It kept changing direction, it kept changing tone, it didn’t quite know what it was until Gene came along and very quickly gave it a tone. Even more than Stan Lee, he was the key in giving that book an identity.” – Mark Waid

“My first introduction to Daredevil was through Gene Colan. For me, he’s synonymous with the comics of my youth, the first comics that I read.” – Axel Alonso

Has there ever been a movie adaptation of 'Daredevil', Stu? Another Marvel favourite of my youth. I'm not up enough in the genre to have heard of Gene Colan, sorry to say.

There was a film a few years back starring Ben Affleck as ol' hornhead. It wasn't that great.

Now I think of it I actually saw that movie!

"Instantly forgettable" about sums it up...

The DVD's worth getting purely 'cos it has a feature on Daredevil writers and artists including interviews with Stan Lee, Gene Colan, John Romita, Frank Miller, Brian Michael Bendis etc.

Just found out that the mum of Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso used to date Christopher Lee.

"My mom grew up in London and worked at the Royal Library where Christopher Lee researched his roles as an actor in the Royal Shakespearean Company. They dated for a while. She didn't tell me this – my aunt did. My mom eventually went on to marry another dark-haired Spanish guy named Angel Alonso, who immediately banned Hammer films in the Alonso household."

Wheels within wheels... is anything truly unconnected?
