BullRunningCover
I'm happy to present the cover for Bull Running for Girls.

A selection of adventure-horror stories set in many locations, from the excitement and danger of bull running in Pamplona, to small town life in Madison County, U.S. Stories set amidst the bustle of Hong Kong, on The Silk Road in China and under a hunter's moon in Bordeaux. Then there are those which are much closer to home.

Wonderful cover by British Fantasy Society award winning artist 2007, Vincent Chong.

Introduction by Gary McMahon.

To be launched at the British Fantasy Society Convention, September 2008 by Screaming Dreams Press.

Oh - and of course the bull will be on the back cover.

Wow - I'm honoured and bowled over by what Laird Barron has said about my collection on Shocklines. An arc was sent not long ago.

“I’m reading an advance copy at the moment. It’s good. Ally’s style is definitely of the storyteller mode, and very mannered in a classical sense – what I’ve read so far. I’m going to post a review at my journal one of these days: however, if the rest holds to the standard, I suspect the book will be well regarded. More later…”

Thank you so very much, Laird.

"I've just seen the back cover too, with the bull on it..."

That's a rather cynical view of the blurb, isn't it?

This sounds classy, Ally. I look forward to it.

Ally, What does the title 'Bull Running For Girls' mean?

Hi GCW!
I think that most of the meaning of it is self evident in the title story. It's about dynamic women, strong women 'who sieze the day.' The collection explores innocence and experience. Not all the main protagonists are female, and some of them aren't even alive...

Influences include, Lovecraft, Ramsey, Hemingway, Orson Welles, the film M, Christina Rossetti, Edith Wharton, R. L. Stevenson, Yeats, Shakespeare, Bram Stoker, Boccaccio, Keats,
William Blake, Virgil and Crowley.

My publisher, Steve, is ill at the moment and has asked me to ensure that Bull Running for Girls stays on track and is launched at the convention in Nottingham in September. Hopefully he will be well before then. I've promised Steve that I'll sort everything out and he is not to worry about anything. The Book is at Biddles the printers now and will be ready in a few weeks.

Get well soon Steve!

These two books will make Steve very happy when he holds them in his hands!

I've had an email from Bob Lock, one of the other SD authors, who has managed to talk to Steve's dad. Steve's condition has been stabilised and he will be transferred to Cardiff hospital soon.

I've had emails asking about Steve so I'll answer those but I thought you'd like to know.
