It's geared primarily towards fans of the site as a fundraiser, which uses a lot of hosting and bandwidth as well as hardware costs. Yog-Sothoth.com's dedicated to podcasts of horror-themed RPGs, mostly Call of Cthulhu. I'm a patron of the site, myself, so for about $5 a month I get first crack at new game recordings as well as some shiny bonus recordings and pdfs. | ||

Elder Sign looks like a pretty cool game, Jamie. I remember Arkham Horror, believe I still own a box somewhere, and that was a pretty good game. Do all these games have a sort of classification? Going way back, 20 years and more, they were a bridge between traditional board/war games and RPGs. I'd say the best of the lot by far was The Fury of Dracula, by Games Workshop. Though I admit to not having played all of them.... | ||

I'm not sure if there's a classification beyond RPG or board game... I haven't gotten to play anything more involved that Facebook Scrabble in many months, alas. | ||

The new Arkham Horror has so many cards and counters (hundreds) that it actually drives the player insane. I played the old version once, but the new version is too complicated. As you get older you realise there's a finite chance you'll be discovered face-down on it, while trying to make the solo rules work. We don't put away childish things as we get older, just the ones that take up too much of our remaining life bar. |
