Listened to Ramsey reading his awesome Jamesian tale 'The Guide' during my lunch break today. A link to it can be found in the news section of the main site.
One of my favourite Ramsey stories - what do others think of it?

It's wonderful and includes one of my favourite Ramsey lines. I'm saying this out of a hole that is most of my face.

Why not discuss the tale in the Reading Group section, Lincoln? This applies to anyone currently reading stuff by The Master.

It was the second one I read after CALL FIRST. I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if this M.R. James chap was invented or not.

I'm guessing but I think Ramsey is naming his next collection after a line from this tale - the one to which I allude above.

Too subtle for a writer of Ramsey's clunky obviousness, Micky boy.

It's a great story and I love M.R. James stories as well. "Number 13", "The Ash Tree", "Oh Whistle and I'll Come to You, My Lad", "The Mezzotint", "A Warning to the Curious" all are brilliant.
