I thought everybody would be definitely interested to know that Francis Ford Coppola is about to release a horror film with Val Kilmer playing a 'bargain basement Stephen King' as described by Bruce Dern in the film. This is a bit long for a trailer, so perhaps don't watch it all.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP7cQnOcU7I&feature=related

Saw this trailer some time ago, and I disagree with Craig - I think it looks interesting. The tone of the trailer is playful and slightly camp, so I'm guessing it's not meant as a serious drama: more a black comedy than an outright horror film.

Indeed, I also thought it looked interesting, and off the beaten track. Kind of a more approachable David Lynch.

It better be camp, or black comedy, or better outright parody. Because the hoary stinky egregiously blatant cliches in that trailer alone promise a thing of supreme... er, shit.

He'd be better served with his time, Coppola, by the way, dropping that bone he's been selfishly clutching (i.e., Abel Gance's Napoléon) from his manger.

Of course, 90% of modern horror films are knowing, ironic commentaries on the cinematic horror genre. That's why they are crude (it's parody), derivative (it's reference), predictable (playing with tropes) and stupid (played for laughs). It couldn't possibly be that they are shit, could it?

I sense a zombie night coming on. The Zombie Dead, city of the Dead and Wakewood (maybe not technically zombie but a living dead theme...)
