Now, I know there were a few of you here who were at the Halifax Ghost Story Festival this year - Zed, Lord and Lady P, Di Lewis (you still here, Di?) - and who saw that brilliant film version of The Hospice.

I've been alerted to a post on another forum from someone who had a bit part acting role in that and who wonders if his scene was actually in the film or whether it had been cut. My memory isn't what it was, so can any of you folk remember this? His query is as follows (copied from that other forum):

"Do you remember if my scene was still in the film? I was the punk youth with long blond hair who Maybury (Jack Shepherd) had to ask directions from after knocking me off my bike......"

I assume he means (actually I'm assuming he's a "he"!) between the point where Maybury leaves his car and first reaches the house. Personally, my first thought was that I don't remember that scene in there. In fact, I seem to remember thinking there was a continuity problem at that point - as if something had been cut. But now I can picture that scene in my mind's eye - though that may just be because it makes sense to have it in there (ie. so that Maybury knows which way to go to the house)!

Anyone remember better than I can whether that scene was actually in it or not?

Punks don't have long hair...
(from someone who was a punk back in the late 70s!)

I must say that's what I thought too, Huw - but it is a very weird film after all!

Hi, Caroline (waves from Wales)!
I don't remember it either, or do I?
Where was he - in the film - when the cat scratched him?
The more I think about it, the more confused
I get...

Oh no, now you've got me confused - I don't even remember a cat scratching him! Or do you mean that funny furry thing in the woods - was that supposed to be a cat? If so, yes, that's the point in the film I'm assuming he meant - either before or after that.

I can't for the life of me think whether I actually saw that scene now, or whether I've just put it there in my slightly distorted recollection of the film. It's no good, we need a DVD release of this film asap.

Lovely to see you in Halifax, by the way, Di. I was going to PM you via the BFS board afterwards to say so (I don't know your email address) but I got sidetracked. Great to see you pop up and post here too. You ought to speak to us more often!

Hi Di -are you that lovely lady who told me at Nottingham that you liked some of my photographs, or am I going mad in my autumn years?

Thanks for the welcome!

Caroline - there was a figure(?) which moved beside the road, I think.

Joel - I was sorry not to see you at FantasyCon - maybe next year?

Mick - anyone who calls me a "lovely lady" is a
friend for life...

Thanks, Di. You may be right - I just can't remember. The person who asked about this has emailed the organiser, I think, so maybe she has a better memory than us!

I've seen the film three times now, and I have absolutely no recollection of the scene. I fear the chap ended up on the cutting-room floor after being knocked off his bike...

Thanks, Ray. I'm afraid I'd completely forgotten you'd seen it too - just shows how bad my memory is!

I'll relay everyone's thoughts on this to the person concerned. What a shame for him as it would have been nice if he could have said "I was in it".

"Di, we did speak at Fantasycon, but only briefly."

Joel, I'm sorry. Not only have I got a bad memory, I now appear to have forgotten that
I have.

No worries, Di. My memory is terrible too. But you're more memorable than me.
