Wha...?! This must be seen. After reading it last year, I can't imagine how this must be.... Maybe it's like those same-era versions of ULYSSES and FINNEGANS WAKE, however: not so good, even to the curious.... |

It's a student movie done on the super-cheap in the early 70s. I'd love to see LOTR done this way, with ordinary clothes and council houses. Was the book good? I've read Haunted Woman. Died of bad teeth, you know. |

LOTR was done that way, right...? A 70's TV version...? Who can correct me on this...? A VOYAGE TO ARCTURUS is singularly great, and utterly bizarre. It's oppressively imaginative. It's an example of a preachy novel, but you have no idea what the message it's trying to impart to you is - it's like discovering a text from another planet, that's emphatically, desperately, trying to tell you something, and it's all gobbledy-gook. But what wonderful gobbledy-gook... the best book I read last year, or maybe in a few years.... |

There was an attempt to film LOTR in the seventies. It didn't get past the first book because it flopped so badly. |

But you're talking the animated Bakshi film, Weber. I mean an actual live-action, British version... anyone...? |
