Not horror-related, but still sad news. Wonderful comedy actor. |

Indeed. Very strange, too, as only this Sunday I said to my wife while watching an old Dad's Army that, as a kid in the early Fifties, I used to watch Clive Dunn on Children's Hour quite regularly in bit parts, along with Mr Pastry etc. And I wondered whether he could possibly be still alive. I then looked him up on Wikipedia and discovered that he was still alive, having retired to Portugal many years ago. A few days later, I now sadly hear this news. RIP. |

Another bit of my television memories gone. Odd that he played one of the older members of Captain Mannering's platoon and yet was one of the last to pass on. And I remember Mr Pastry Des! Perhaps it really is time to... PANIC! Cheers Terry |

Not only Mr Pastry (who was originally played by someone else - Richard Hurndall?) but also another elderly character in Bootsie & Snudge, a character that prompted a record:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhCi2P6bjjU "Do you want me to face the way I'm singing?"... |

Hi, Mick, Mr Pastry was played by Ricahrd Hearne. I didn't mean to imply that CD ever played the part of Mr Pastry, only that he played alongside Mr Pastry on Children's Hour. |

I seem to recall Dunn retired to Portugal thirty years ago, so although no time's a good time to go, I guess he had a fair old retirement. |

Been watching 'Dad's Army' on Saturday nights recently and still feel as much affection for the show as I did as a child. A classic British sitcom with the best cast of any of them. RIP Clive. |
