I watched this tonight after hearing some good things about it from friends, although it was never on my radar due to some mixed reviews and generally not standing out from all the other found footage movies out there. For me it's easily the best I've seen since REC.

The set-up is nothing original: a ghost-hunting TV crew spend the night locked in a derelict asylum and things end badly for them. It starts quite slow and there's not much effort to develop the characters but I found the third act genuinely nightmareish. I feel it's going to stick in my head for days to come and it passes the ultimate horror test for me - I feel a little uncomfortable walking around my house in the dark right now.

I saw this some time ago and really liked it - especially the 'only walls where previously there were doors' bit.

Yeah, that whole theme of getting trapped in some horrific oubliette of reality is something I'm a little obsessed with (and disturbed by), which is one reason why I liked it so much.
