I was kept awake recently by horrid children running up and down the corridor outside my hotel room. First my floor, then the one above, then the one below. On and on until 1 am. I kept drifting off nearly to sleep only to be jolted by their pounding feet as they ran past the door. When I finally slept, it was fitful at best and I heard the running in my dreams. I was trapped in a metal room listening to the sounds, not knowing where they were going to come from next. I ran to the door and stood poised to fling it open. I was trembling with anticipation, waiting for them to run past. Then the room dissolved into some amorphous place and I heard their high singsong voices as they chanted a rhyme reminiscent of "One, two, Freddy's coming for you". The second line ended with "...in the middle of the night". Then there were feathery light hands touching my feet, my ankles, my legs. I tried to get away, but I was surrounded. I struggled and finally screamed and realised my partner was shaking me awake. I felt like spiders had crawled all over me and I ran to the door, determined to scare the hell out of the little horrors for real when they appeared again. I jumped at every little noise, tensed and ready to unload on them. I heard them go past on another floor and I thought I was losing my mind. Finally I scrawled a furious message on a sheet of paper: "Please STOP RUNNING!!!" and laid it on the floor in the corridor before giving up and going to bed. I didn't hear them again, which made me start questioning my sanity. Argh! An awful night. And I couldn't help but think of that old movie - "The Children". I saw that as a kid and it really freaked me out. I'm sure it wouldn't scare me at all today, but at the time it was terrifying and gave me nightmares. |

I dreamt that I David Lynch was a filming his next film and he wanted me to have a part in it. It was something about a judge bank robber ninja. Earlier I was swearing at a bucket of water. |
