This one's for Zed as he got all excited about the blood and guts in the last Rambo film. There's a new Punisher film coming out. Me being an absolute sucker for vigilante films (anyone seen DEATH SENTENCE?), I like the look of this - the 2nd, more hardcore, trailer is tremendous for all the wrong reasons. :-/ | ||

The Garth Ennis scripted MAX run of The Punisher comic is amazing. Incredibly violent and makes the anti-hero look really cool but still manages to get across the idea that no matter how appealing -- and even pragmatic -- his vigilantism is you wouldn't want to be him in real life. Whether the film manages to capture that or if it's just two hours of OTT violence remains to be seen. | ||

Garth Ennis is very good, I really liked his short run on the original punisher before MAX too. Some of that was comedy gold. | ||

I only read bits and pieces of Ennis's pre-MAX Punisher but it didn't really appeal to me. There's some really funny stuff in there and some really cool Punisher moments but Ennis's whole "I hate superheroes so I'm going to rip the piss out of them" schtick was starting to get old by this point and the different elements never clicked the way they did in HITMAN. | ||
