Is anyone attending this event is October? Iain Banks is GOH with Storm Constantine as GOH too. I'm reading with Storm (Sunday)and on a very interesting panel (details to be announced) on the Saturday. Anyone live reasonably close to Northampton?

Too close in time to this, I fear:

I know Ramsey - all the events seem to be in that four week period. I've still never managed to get to Fantastic Film weekend - John Saxon in the line up too this year!

For my sins I'm on a panel at Newcon4. Anyone going?

I hope they're appropriate sins.

Is that the BFS's David Howe? If so, forgive me, but I don't readily associate him with erotic poetry. Though his new 'hippie' look is a commendable step away from the buttoned-down image of yore.

The new David Howe does indeed look different - looks good.

The emergence of a David Howe fan club on the RCMB is about as unexpected as the opening of a pork scratchings factory in the Middle East. But stranger things have happened. Just not many of them.

I'm not going to any of the above, but I AM popping into the Zardoz Book Fair in London on Oct 19th if anyone's around. I understand the usual bunch of London decadents (Mark Samuels that includes you) will be going

So many events and I know I won't be at NewCon4, and really wish I could visit the Zardoz Book Fair. I may try and attend Fantastic Films on the Sunday and there's also this years Darkness Over Britain event at The Cornerhouse, Manchester...

...which I pretty sure I'll be attending as I'm staying with a friend in Manchester that very weekend.

Hey Martin.I've got 6 copies of my book on sale in the Cornerhouse. Make loud favourable noises about the wonderful cover when you walk in. Pick it up ...caress the cover....

And - I was born in Manchester and I've promised myself for years to go to the Fantastic Films Festival and never managed it yet.

Newcon4 was fun. Read from HUNTER'S MOON and took part in the panel. Halfway through we changed the topic from 'Sex sells but should we buy' to 'sex sells but should we sell' which was more interesting. Storm Constantine really supported me as I had never been on a panel before. Unfortunately after that I felt ill - still had headaches from jet lag etc so I went back to the hotel and came home Sunday lunchtime.

Apparently Alan Moore turned up on the Sunday and introduced a panel. You would have been in your element Stu! It was that sort of weekend where you could chat to all the GOH's and everyone on an informal basis.
