Michael Dirda has, this afternoon, presented us with the news that THE WASHINGTON POST has decided to discontinue the weekly on-line discussion forum, DIRDA ON BOOKS, at the end of this month. Devastating news for book-lovers, and readers generally - particulary as this is such a well-run and informative and friendly forum. I've begun an on-line petition against this shut down. Please go to http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/dirdaonbooks sign the petition, and add your comments, and let's give THE WASHINGTON POST something other than an American Election to think about!
