Sad news indeed.

Do you have the Criterion NIGHT & THE CITY, Mick? I've been meaning to buy that for months!

I used to love Widmark when I was young - he had such a great screen prescence.

KISS OF DEATH, NIGHT AND THE CITY,RUN FOR THE SUN, THE ALAMO... he was great in all of these.

RIP.

Asolutely!

Most kids of my generation would remember Widmark in the Alamo.

Not a big star in the Wayne/Lancaster mold...But most likely a better actor.

RIP.

No, Huw - I have the BFI release, which as far as I can tell is a copy of the Criterion one, having the same version of the film with identical extras, but at a fraction of the price.

Don't worry. His twisty mouthed child army will carry on the fight.

DEATH OF A GUNFIGHTER was one I liked. Not to mention TO THE DEVIL A DAUGHTER

He was good in COMA, too, in which he played a sinister doctor.
