That was part of one of the BBC's Christmas tapes - yearly internal tapes of stuff such as this, and of folk screwing up on tv, usually saying "Merry Christmas VT" after they realise they've done so, as such things usually ended up on the tapes. I had some of these tapes many years back - quite funny in parts...
