...my 'to-be-read' pile, that is.

Ninety-seven books.

Bloody hell, how did that happen? Note to self - stop getting involved in life and read more.

Mine's bigger than that - and it goes back about 15 years. In fact, almost my whole book collection is a TBR pile!

I'd say a good third of my collection is one vast TBR pile - and that's a lot of books, believe me.

It puts me in mind of a non-fiction piece Peter Crowther did for The Third Alternative a number of years ago, in which he estimated he'd get through all his unread books and comics around the time of his 150th birthday.

Then again, (to borrow from a Harlan Ellison short story), what's the point of a library full of books you've already read?

97????

I have about 6 to read -I blame that Curtis geezer..

Actually, it's good because I hate a pile of unread books and it has stirred me into a rate of reading I haven't had for a good few years.

No kidding, I have a loft full of unread books (around 300 I'd estimate), and about 10-15 in my bedside cabinet, which are next on the list. For the past few years the books I've picked up at Fantasycons have lasted me most of the reading year. I suspect that if I never bought another book in my life (God forbid), I'd still have enough to see me through to the end.

I don't care if he reads mine as long as he's bought it.

I can't count my TBR pile because I have a time-limit a book may remain on the pile. If it's not read by then, it gets put into the library and quiet suffocated under all the other tomes.

There was a time, about seven years ago, when I'd read everything I bought. Those days are gone now, as my free time has been consumed with writing. This year I've made a concerted effort to read more, but I'm still painfully behind in clearing the backlog.
