It's odd this, but I got this from Asda as a bit of a risk and only found later it was not the original artists, only to discover it's really well done and not noticably different from the originals. What is interesting is the selection of tracks, which covers a lot of Hammer stuff I've never heard or seen on record. It's well worth a look, despite the one or two tracks that do jar (Christine and The Fog do, the former because the track usually has lyrics and the latter only slightly because for some reason they've stuck thunder and lightning on the front): http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/5305378/-/Product.html?searchstring=horror+film+ themes&searchsource=0 Curse of the Werewolf pastoral is particularly nice, as is The Young Lovers from Taste the Blood of Dracula. |

Revise that; Taste the Blood of Dracula/The Young Lovers is beautiful... |

Is it as good as the Romanza from WITCHFINDER GENERAL, though? |

Those both look good. I bought one a few years ago called 'A History of Horror' which wasn't bad, apart from a couple of strange selections (such as 'The Lighthouse'). I seem to recall there being at least one CD specifically devoted to the Hammer scores too. Just saw this:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dunwich-Horror-Adventure-Radio-Theatre/dp/B001ASVR8A/ref =sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1233713705&sr=1-11 I have their adaptation of 'At the Mountains of Madness', but wasn't aware of this one - anyone got it? |

Whoa - I haven't checked the Lurker Films website in a while, but now I see that they also have 'The Shadow Out of Time' and 'The Shadow Over Innsmouth' on audio. I loved their 'At the Mountains of Madness' adaptation - anyone heard these other ones? |

Huw, I have 'The Shadow out of Time' and it's very good. Innsmouth I need to order. 'The Dunwich Horror' is also definitely worth a purchase. |

I have a feeling Shane Ritchie will be having a go at the MINDER theme in the inadvisable continuation of the classic old series, airing at nine o'clock tonight (I think I'll maybe watch Terry Pratchett sadly losing his mind instead on BBC2). Does that count as horror music? |

Anyone heard Elmer Bernstein's soundtrack to Otto Preminger's "The Man With The Golden Arm? I recently picked it up after seeing the equally great film...I am on a sort of jazz, big band kick at the mo'.... (It goes with the prescription medication!) gcw |
