After a year or so not submitting any fiction, I'm delighted to report some lovely new story sales: My story 'Adam In Amber' will appear in a future issue of PostScripts. And a tale of mine, whose title I've sworn to withhold, will appear in Nemonymous 9. Hurrah for me: I'm such a wanker. |

Nice one, Gary. Good to see you getting active again, both in a writing and a publishing sense (and not in a wanking sense). |

Wow! Lots of good news here. Congrats to everyone. And to continue the wanking, my second collection, Undertow and Other Laments, will be available sometime shortly. Possibly as early as next month. Depends on when the cover artist is done. At any rate, I've begun to post excerpts to my blog, should anyone be interested. http://lonesome-crow.livejournal.com/ |

Hey, Jonathan – I'm sure I was right about Mark Harrison! Born in 1963 and studied at Bournville Art College – must be the guy I was school with. That makes me quite possibly the first editor to publish his artwork. At last I have a claim to fame! Well done, Gary! I didn't bother saying before because I expect you to write and sell stories. I'd be disappointed with less. |

I dropped Mark a line Joel, and he does indeed remember the magazine in which you published his stuff. It was called 'The Magi' and apparently it was banned because the school deemed it a bit too occult. I hope that you unleashed the Hounds of Tindalos on them to teach them the error of their ways. |

'Banned' is a bit too dramatic: the school's English department just withdrew its help and support. Had we been able to produce it without assistance I dare say the school would have let us go on selling it. One issue was printed... I still have a few copies, and may bring one to Fantasycon – I have more to lose from its exposure than Mark does, believe me. |

My copies of THE WITNESSES ARE GONE have arrived from PS Publishing... and the blue-green of Vincent Chong's cover is still more intense in printed form than in the scanned version... and I'm sitting here with a dazed, dreamy grin part way between Zoe Whitten's avatar on Shocklines and Gary Fry on a visit to Manchester's curry mile. Yes, you've got it: once Whitten, twice Fry. |

Some of you may think you know what it's like to be me, to hunger for curry in the way I do. You know nothing. You're like some Goth girl trying to figure out the insatiable appetite of a true vampire by reading the odd Anne Rice novel: nowhere near. Anyway - nice one, Joel! Lovely books, aren't they? Drool over that dustsheet, run your tongue along the spine's foil stamping, hear those pages creak. And as for the text reproduction? Sex between the covers. |
