http://www.xfiles.com/ Anyone else excited? I've been hearing rumours that the new Indy movie sucks, and sort of don't feel surprised. But this? I dunno... |

Might be okay but they may just be flogging a dead horse like the Indy franchise. (Assuming of course the rumours about Indy 4 are true. I've not seen it yet.) |

X Files was always a sort of cheesy dead horse to begin with, but always managed to hit some highs along the way. To quote Mark - fingers crossed. |

I think I stopped following the X files around the 3rd season, and then would catch an episode once in a while. The trailer looks somewhere between ok to pretty good. I did enjoy the last feature presentation- That kid who falls into the hole in the beginning was just great. The Indy IV reviews are not so great. Spielberg has flipped and the review from Aint It Cool has been mentioned in newspapers around the world. I will obviously see this and am still looking forward to revisit Indy. |

Sad. This reviewer has a way with words here and there that makes you think this might be accurate; http://www.aintitcool.com/node/36677 |

Yeah and I believe that both Frank Darabont and M. Night Shyamalan had written screenplays that Spielberg liked but that were vetoed by Lucas. They will get my money but this does take some excitement away... |

It was a hi-tech one he took off a super soldier and it was able to produce different gases for the wearer and he was just off his WW2 tits all the time on LSD and such? No? |

Yeah, you recall. It would filter out the components and make LSD for him. It would instruct him to find certain plants and stuff to sniff and get the right recipes. It was great, all those surreal nazis when he invaded a concentration camp and his mask was spraying LSD everywhere. |

I want to see a new movie that looks old and has a superhero fight nazis. Grainy black and white, with subtitles, skeletal bodies bulldozed into trenches while Iron Man appears on the muddy horizon. |

Or Flannagan, with his mask. Do you remember it? It was on right after YOU FAT B*****D! With Geoff Capes. It was an early hidden camera show and he would play tricks on people and they wouldn't dare do anything. He would go around with a big fibre glass hand and push kids into seas and that, and their dads would go "OI! What..." And then they'd see Capes and he would go "You gotta problem with my tricks and japes? don't you know I'm bloomin' Geoff Capes?" And they would back down. And that was his catch phrase. |

Just watched that X-files teaser - can't tell much. I mean if it wasn't the x-files there wouldn't be much to go on to want to see it just from that... It was cool hearing those first notes of the theme song though. Almost haunting in a fun sort of way. Hey on a separate Duchovny, note - anyone watch his new series CALIFORNICATION? I really enjoyed it. The ultimate man in many ways... Totally sexy, ultimately devoted, and not afraid to get his hands dirty. I lurved Hank... |

Saw odd epsisodes of CALIFORNICATION. Would've liked to see more but it was shown at odd hours over here. I enjoyed the bits I did see. Sadly, the girl playing Duchovny's ex-wife in the show, her husband died of a sudden heart attack this week. He was only 40-something. My mother didn't die of a heart attack this weekend, despite being rushed in a knackered ambulance to hospital having been suspected of suffered one. Been a long couple of days but she's got the all clear . . . Ambulance was new, but the lights didn't work, the engine kept stuttering and the heating wasn't working, the back door -- a-la that scene in Moonraker -- came open if you put any weight on it from the inside. |

Out of interest, did anyone actually watch X-FILES until the end of the series? I watched all but the last three episodes, which I videoed and then never watched . . . |

Chin up, Mark. It's now a month since my dad was rushed to hospital - by me, because he wouldn't call an ambulance. He was immediately sent to have surgery and had two stents inserted. He was in a bad way and we thought he was a gonner. Now he is gradually making a slow recovery. Best wishes to your mam, she will get better. |

Thanks, Adriana. Strength to you when you most need it too. Cheers, Griff. And best to your father. My mum's actually fine, the tests are coming back really positively. And she's complaining about stuff now, a sure sign she's well. |

Mark- glad your mum's OK. I've been in the back of too many ambulances like that on hospital transfers. Griff - presumably they were cardiac stents? Hope your dad continues to get better. Adriana - I watched Californication & really quite liked it. Not, of course that I could relate to any of it I watched ALL of the X-Files, from episode one to the very last infuriatingly bollocks episode of series nine. I still think it was a marvellous, marvellous series (so much better than HEROES or whatever else we have now). Way before Buffy, it made TV fantasy popular again and wasn't afraid to be horrific, even if it did get far too wrapped up in nonsensical paranoia stories. And I rather liked Gillian Anderson... |

We were rather spoiled by it. Very good stuff. Duchovny and Anderson were alarmingly young when it began, too . . . And the show really was improved by the fact there were no major guest stars detracting from its believability. Be nice if they make a nice deal of the movie, but I rather suspect the weight of the "infuriatingly bollocks" stuff will be hard to cast off. (And thanks, Mick and Huw.) |

I started watching early in season 3, and ended up going back to watch the previous seasons. It is my all time favorite TV series right after LOST. |
