Inspired by (or copying, if I'm honest) Paul Finch's regular "Power of Three" selections on his blog, I've started my own regular short fiction recommendations. This year I'm being a short story zealot. Hallelujah, brothers and sisters! So, for anyone who's interested: http://www.garymcmahon.com/ |

Should I plant my tulips this year in shelter of the northerly wind or in the thick of it? |

The thick of it. That would be most apt. |

I don't notice any problems. I've just dropped my pants and logged on quite easily. I like it! I'm really wanting now to read King's new one, for once, btw, thanks to the reviews on the RCMB. (A sad note for King-column fans of Entertainment Weekly: his last column appeared this last issue, where he bids a tearful good-bye. It really was, I admit, kind of sad for me to read it.... ) |

Well in for a penny...Among, but by no means all of, my favourie shorts this last twelvemonth so far The Old Man of Northampton and the Sea by Sarah Pinborough (Shoes, Ships and Cadavers)- absolute favourite of 2010 and among my favourites of all time! Bated Breath (Murky Depths 14)by Jim Valenti Fade by Dave Gullen (Catastrophia) Gravity Wave by Douglas Thompson (Caastrophia) The Black Swan of Odessa by Allyson Bird There are more to come I am sure (Blind Swimmer and Null Immortalis are sitting my my shelf for a start) and and loads I've neglected to mention. My read books and mags are packed away cos I'm living in digs at the moment so I have no memory joggers with me. Once I move into a flat I will unpack and complete this list! Cheers Tel |

Hey....thank you, Terry! That story was a joy to write and I was very happy with the feedback on it after the reading at Fantasycon. |
